Now, a business’s website analytics and search engine optimization is at the center of public relations measurement. You can find out if your visitors are buying your product or service, ask for more information and if your public relations efforts are shaping the correct perceptions. A system for measuring your impact through your website  includes:

Defining business goals
Marketing and communications aim to get customers to a company’s website and take action, be it downloading information or making a purchase. After defining your goals and implementing your public relations campaign, determine where the most traffic came from and evaluate the quality of your website’s users.

Determine Your Customers’ Search Terms
Using search terms in your content is essential to driving traffic and those terms must be a part of the public relations campaign. Understanding how search engines work is vital for effective SEO, and should dovetail with a business’s goals.

Use Google Analytics
Learn how to analyze the data: How many visitors, what pages they visit and what is their behavior when they arrive at a page? It’s time to fine tune your campaign if visitors aren’t going to the pages you want them to visit or aren’t taking any action when on your site.

Create good content
Shareable content such as photos, video and infographics extends your reach. Make coming to your website a great experience that benefits the user. In this way, they will visit often and tell others about the great information they received.

Google+: What’s New and Why You Should Use It

It seems that the mediums for sharing information will never end. There is, and probably always will be, a way for you to connect to anyone, anytime and anywhere.

Are you familiar with Google+?

Google+ has a fresh new look. Looking at it – it reminds me a little bit of Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter all rolled into one. PR Daily wrote an excellent breakdown of some of the changes to the Google+ platform. A few of the items noted that I particularly find interesting include:

#3 – Infographics will display in a nearly useful size at full length in the new layout. The estimated dimensions are 503 × 930 for desktop viewing. An influx of infographic posts is likely. Keep an eye on ensuring readability.

#7 – A Hangout is now any form of group communication. This can include Video Call, Group Chat or Group Calling. This new feature means many messaging and calling products can now merge.

#8 – Google has released a standalone Hangout app that replaces Google Chat and allows for text and video chat across Android, iOS, and Chrome.

#12 – YouTube expands its live-streaming feature to all channels with more than 1,000 subscribers.

Some of these can prove very useful when communicating with business colleagues, family and friends. No need to set up multiple accounts with different service providers – you have one-stop shopping right inside Google+.

Use Creative Visuals to Market Your Business

“One picture is worth ten thousand words.” –Chinese Proverb

This phrase is often bandied about but it’s very true. Provide a picture, be it real or imagined and often no words are necessary.

If you are often on social media, you have seen many images used to create buzz or to generate conversations around the content. You can do the same thing with a few of these tips.

The popular blog, Social Media Examiner, developed a list on “26 Ways to Use Visuals in Your Social Media Marketing“. Here are a few of my favorites:

  • Add Text to Your Photosvis
  • Create a Collage
  • Generate Leads with Facebook Photos
  • Use Infographics
  • Use Landing Pages and Keep them Simple
